## Core facts

Clip Caption Kit is a browser-based subtitle delivery tool. It turns one master SRT file and a CSV of clip time ranges into separate, clip-relative SRT and TXT files, packaged in one ZIP with a manifest.csv that records each clip's range, caption count, boundary policy and warnings.
What is a clip-relative subtitle file? It uses the start of a video clip as time zero. Each retained cue is re-timed relative to that point; the first cue may begin later than 00:00:00,000. You create one by subtracting the clip's start time from every caption timestamp in the master SRT: 03:45.500 − 03:42.000 = 00:03.500.
Terminology: "clip-relative subtitle", "re-timed subtitle", "reset to 00:00", "clip-start-relative timing" and "zero-based caption timing" all refer to the same thing on this site.
What Clip Caption Kit is NOT: not a video editor, not an AI transcription service, not a subtitle translator. It does not upload or edit video; it re-times text subtitle files against clip ranges you provide.

The video never has to be uploaded; only the master SRT and the timeline CSV are processed.
Uploaded sources and exported packages are deleted after 24 hours; only project records and anonymous usage events remain.
Timecodes accept HH:MM:SS.mmm and HH:MM:SS,mmm. Captions crossing a clip boundary are trimmed to the boundary or excluded per clip.
The SRT to VTT, WebVTT to SRT, SRT to text, SRT timing and subtitle maker tools run locally in the browser without an account or file upload.
